TelSoft Solutions offers increased telecom security in call accounting software upgrade for medium to small
businesses
Glendale, California - November 12, 2004 - As telecom security concerns grow, more small businesses are
in need of a solution that is affordable and still offers effective toll fraud and abuse detection.
Detecting Toll Fraud is more of an art than a science. Toll Fraud/Abuse is not a feature one merely turns-on
or off. There is much one must know about typical types of toll fraud, such as likely city or country destinations
by country/city code, before establishing a adequate defense against it.
There are web sites now that help with this, as the nature of toll fraud changes as a function of the automated
equipment that finds ways to penetrate a PBX through which it then makes fraudulent calls. One must also be aware
that typical fraud usually occurs from an incoming call transferred to an outgoing trunk as opposed to an internal
extension making fraudulent calls, but not all the time. That’s the Toll Fraud side of the fence, meaning calls
made through the PBX but originated from outside the PBX, not by an internal employee or device making a call.
The other side of the fence is Abuse, which is the internal employee abusing the privilege of having a company
provided telephone making calls unrelated to job duties.
TelSoft Solutions has released an upgraded version of its medium size business call accounting solution, CallTrac,
so that smaller businesses can now have the same security as larger corporations at a fraction of the cost.
The New CallTrac’s Toll Fraud/Abuse feature lets the user establish protection or notification/alerting from
both a Toll Fraud and Abuse point of view – the call destination (Toll Fraud orientated) and the call origination
(Abuse oriented). The Toll Fraud/Abuse setup screen separates these two aspects when establishing a defense, which
helps guide the user’s defense creation focusing them on this major separation of Toll Fraud and Abuse.
It’s also flexible in that both these separate aspects can be combined into a single alert. The destination
phone number and originating station can be components of a single defensive alert. This flexibility is quite powerful.
The more a user is aware of how toll fraud and abuse typically happens this feature can be made very effective
in detecting both fraud and abuse.
