TelSoft Solutions Announces New Method of CDR Collection

New Call Accounting Interface Eliminates Buffer
by collecting CDR directly from the PBX over a direct network connection

GLENDALE, CA-(April 18, 2001)-TelSoft Solutions Inc. today announced an unconventional new method of CDR (call detail record) collection whereby call records can be collected directly from the PBX over an IP network connection, eliminating the need for a call storage buffer.

Traditionally, call records produced by the PBX are transmitted via serial port to a buffer, where they are temporarily stored until retrieved by call accounting software. Since they provide a reliable method of safely transferring information to call accounting or telemanagement systems, call buffers have long been broadly accepted as the preferred storage device as a safeguard against cases of delayed call collection or communication failure.

TelSoft has developed an interface that enables its Call Accounting System, MegaCall, to retrieve the call records spooled by the PBX directly to the Call Accounting System over an IP connection - without forfeiting the benefits a call storage buffer provides. In the high volume CDR market, this is a first.

"We have managed to eliminate the necessity and expense of the buffer without losing the flexibility and reliability inherent in such an arrangement," said Don Simons, TelSoft Solutions President/CEO. "By utilizing the capability of some modern switches to store large amounts of records on their hard disk, we were able to produce a reliable handshake for extracting records from the switch directly".
